5. Like Father, Like Son — Or Maybe Not?

Is it inevitable that we'll turn out like our fathers? If your father was a good role model, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Indeed, you may be intentionally trying to follow in his footsteps in important ways. But what if there are aspects of your father's character or habits that you don't want to emulate? How can you break unhealthy generational cycles and forge a new path for your own family and future legacy?

In this episode, Brett and Perry explore these challenging questions while relating ways they're proud to be like their dads -- and perhaps more importantly, how they're endeavoring to be their own men.

The pull of our fathers is strong. But there's also every opportunity to build on the positive things we've learned from them and be even better fathers for our own kids -- just as we'll want our kids to learn from our mistakes and one day be better than us. It will take intentionality to achieve that outcome. We're confident that you'll come away from this episode with some practical ideas for making that a reality.
