43. Honoring Your Body to Maximize Your Purpose, with Dr. Michael Smith

To show up fully as a faithful father, our health needs be on point. More than that, to live out the purpose God has for our lives with energy and vigor, we must steward our bodies well so that they perform for us when we need them most. Yet, far too many men are not intentional when it comes to their health, and the consequent health conditions they deal with later in life prevent them from maximizing their role as father, husband, businessman, etc. In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Michael Smith, a naturopath and founder of Carolinas Natural health Center, to learn simple practices we can implement in the areas of nutrition, exercise, sleep, and more to move the needle when it comes to safeguarding our wellbeing. We also play a "Truth or Myth?" game where Dr. Smith weighs in on such questions as:

  • Is sleep more important than exercise?
  • Are some vices okay in moderation?
  • Does eating healthy/organic have to be expensive?
  • What role does genetics play in our long-term health outcomes?
  • Why is weight training so important as we age, and how can we work it into our everyday lives?

All too often as men we let life take over during the busy season of raising kids only to wake up one day and wonder what in the heck happened. It's time to take back control of our health. This conversation with Dr. Smith will show us how.
