45. Tools for Developing Trust and Intimacy, with Bill McCarthy
One of the goals of a faithful father should be to have a close, trusting, intimate relationship with his kids. Easier said than done. While we might desire — and even strive for — such an outcome, we often lack the tools to develop such a relationship. Bill McCarthy, a clinical mental health counselor and founder of 180° Counseling, joins us in this episode to share his formula for nurturing just such a trust-relationship with our kids. While intimacy is often messy, it’s worth cultivating for the sake of the mental and emotional health of our sons and daughters. What are signs that your child might be struggling with his/her mental health? What does an emotionally-healthy father-child relationship look like? Can a relationship be restored once it’s been fractured, and if so how? We talk about all of this — and more — in this wide-ranging conversation. A life-giving relationships with our children is possible. After listening to this episode, you’ll have some more tools in your "fatherhood tool belt" to continue moving in that direction.
