50. The Man and His Wives

"The Man and His Wives," one of Aesop's famous fables, teaches a profound truth about the importance of keeping our priorities straight. Brett and Perry use the humorous tale as a launching point to discuss how they determine what's important in their own lives — and whether their intended list of priorities matches up with reality. They then turn to the life of Jesus to look at what He prioritized during his time on earth, and whether or not what Jesus thought was important should also be important to us as men striving to leave a meaningful legacy in our families. Finally, Brett and Perry talk about what to do if there's a disconnect between our stated priorities and our actual priorities as revealed by our actions, and they share practical ways to bring those divergent lists of priorities back into alignment. As Brett notes at the end of the episode, what we focus on grows. Let's make sure we're focusing on the right things as faithful fathers!
