62. Keys to Being a Good Sports Dad, with Tim Hardy

Your kids have God-given talents and abilities, of that there is no doubt. The question is how best to steward those giftings as their father — how to support them as they pursue their passions, how to encourage them when things get challenging, and how to love them because of who they are, not because of what they do or accomplish. That's the conversation we have in this episode with Tim Hardy, head football coach and athletic director at Greater Atlanta Christian School, as we explore the parallels between good coaches and good fathers. The context of our discussion is sports, namely how to be effective fathers for our athletically-inclined kids. But the themes we touch on speak to the level of relationship necessary to unlock your kids in whatever discipline they set their mind to. Tim shares insightful stories from his extensive experience as athlete, coach, and now father to Division I athletes that will help us all view our role as "sports dad" in a new and healthier light.
